How it differs
The honest version
Graphene coatings get marketed hard, so here is the plain reading. Both ceramic and graphene are silica-based coatings. Graphene adds reduced graphene oxide to the mix, which changes how the cured layer behaves in three measurable ways — and does not change the fourth thing people hope it will.
It still won't stop a stone chip. Nothing except film does. What it will do is stay looking good longer on a car parked under the sky.

Fewer water spots
The big one in Hyderabad. Heat plus hard water leaves mineral rings on a hot panel; graphene's flatter, cooler surface leaves far fewer.

Heat dissipation
Carbon spreads heat across the panel instead of letting it pool. A dark car parked outside runs measurably cooler on the surface.

Anti-static
Less static charge means less airborne dust clinging between washes. Noticeable on black and dark grey.

Deeper, wetter look
Subjective, but real. On dark colours the difference against standard ceramic is visible side by side.

Choosing
Is graphene worth the extra?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Here's how we actually advise, based on where the car spends its nights.
Go graphene if…
The car is black, dark grey, dark blue or red. It parks outdoors or under open sky. You wash it yourself and hate water spots. You're keeping it more than three years.
Ceramic is enough if…
The car lives in a basement or covered parking. It's white, silver or a light colour where spotting barely shows. You want the best gloss-per-rupee and are happy topping up sooner.

Graphene, answered
Is graphene actually better, or is it marketing?
Both, honestly. The heat dissipation, anti-static behaviour and reduced water spotting are real and you will notice them on a dark car parked outside. The claims about dramatically higher hardness or a decade of life are oversold across the industry. We quote it where it genuinely helps and tell you when ceramic is the better buy.
Does it stop stone chips?
No. No coating does, regardless of what the bottle says. Coatings handle chemicals, UV, water and light swirls. For impact you need paint protection film, and the two work well together.
Can it go over PPF?
Yes, and that's the best combination available — film taking impacts on the front end, graphene over the whole car for beading and easy cleaning. It also keeps filmed and unfilmed panels behaving the same way in rain.
What maintenance does it need?
Same as ceramic: pH-neutral shampoo, two buckets, no brush washes, and a six-month inspection with us to keep the warranty valid. Graphene is more forgiving of hard water between washes, but it isn't maintenance-free.
Will it fix existing swirl marks?
No — it seals them in. That's what the correction stage before it is for. On a car with heavy swirling we'll quote two-stage correction, and that's not us upselling: coating over damaged paint is money wasted.
